A proposition with the end-user experience in mind by researching aspirations and by using technology to empower the end-user experience.

Context

Hospitality is a longstanding concept and has been reinterpreted many times. At the core hospitality is about caring for people. Allowing them to rejuvenate, feel well or be productive when guests want to. Innovating in this sector is a great challenge. Innovations need to strenghten the hotel brand, be attractive to investors, empower hotel management and staff to care for their guests and improve the guest-experience at the same time.

My role

My job as a project leader was to initiate and execute an innovation project that enhance guest experience and ensure that findings could be used for new professional systems development. My role was to manage the project and also shape the proposition.

The approach

With a team of scientists, engineers, developers and designers we set out to shape the experience, the end-user UI, the preliminary body of evidence from science regarding light & sleep, the algoritms, the system set-up with both hardware and software development and the demo's to test the experience.

The result

Since the hotel is first and foremost about a good night sleep, we developed a SleepWell experience. This concept is helping guest to relax during the evening and in the morning helping them to wake-up with light, by mimicing the sunrise and sunset. For business travellers this could make them more awake and productive early in the morning, while for wellness travellers they could enjoy the sunset and bring nature inside their guestroom. With slow transitions and natural color variations it feels natural and is an experience that helps people feel at ease.
